Donato C. Cruz Trading Corporation was started in February 19, 1966 by spouses Donato C. Cruz and Susana G. Cruz. From the main office at Singcang, Bacolod City, the company started its aggressive expansion 22 years later, reaching out to cover Negros Island with their 8 branches: Bacolod (Magsaysay Ave.), Bago City (Taloc and City Proper), San Carlos City, Bais City, Kabankalan City, La Carlota City and Victorias City. Presently it has expanded to cover Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas Islands as well. The company also ventured into real estate development and has an investment in manufacturing (Herbanext Laboratories Inc.). It also established the Herbe Foundation Inc. in 1989 which provides transformative education to indigent children in Bago City.
In 2013, as part of its continuing CSR efforts, the company established the Negros Farmers Weekend Market to help small farmers and housewives have direct access to the market. In 2014, the company was awarded the International Environmental Respect Award in Delaware, USA given by global multinational BioScience company Du Pont. Because of this international recognition, the company was also awarded, in the same year, a recognition by the Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella.
Today, the company is ably managed by the second generation: Ruby Cruz is CEO of DC Cruz Trading Company and Ruth Cruz is President of Herbe Foundation Inc.
Now, on its 54th year, the company remains firmly committed to its mission: Service to Farmers. It is this culture of servitude that enables the company to sustain its growth and become more responsive to the changing business and agricultural environment.
