Roles and Responsibilities
The main objectives of the Electrical Engineer are to comply and adhere to electrical compliance standards; complete design projects on time and within budget; prepare electrical design in accordance with estimation, scope, and design; develop comprehensive and accurate manufacturing work packs; prepare detail drawings to oversee specific projects for Phoenix EMS and provide high-level engineering support as required.
The other main responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer is to produce detailed and accurate 2D/3D drawings for Phoenix EMS Electrical projects, complete drawings to customer satisfaction within budgeted hours and on time, prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements, and assist in the review of customer approved specifications to compile Bills of Materials for the purchase of materials and equipment.
The Designing and drawing Electrical Drawings diagrams include (but is not limited to):
- Developing detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Completing equipment take-offs from Single Line Diagrams, Schematics & Terminations
- Completing Lighting Studies using AGI or Dialux Software
- Reviewing and analysing specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed
- Developing detailed designs using 2D & 3D modelling where required for electrical designs
- Developing Electrical schematics & termination drawings as required
- Developing Electrical work packs
- Positioning instructions and comments onto drawings required for construction
- Modifying and revising designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
- Checking dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials
- Completing General Arrangement Drawings for Electrical panels
Electrical & Mechanical duties include (but is not limited to):
- Ensuring all documentation is completed to the highest level
- Providing an interface between company & mechanical departments namely the Engineering, Estimation, - Finance, and Purchasing departments as required
- Ensuring BOM's are in accordance with all allocated materials of report actual verse budgeted for each project
- Monitoring and reporting on project variations
- Developing and maintaining Project
General estimation and administration associated with estimations and tender response include (but is not limited to):
- Maintaining the Request for Quote (RFQ) register
- Ensuring all information related to tender response remain up to date and communicating with the relevant stakeholders
- Preparing estimation of company Projects
- Negotiating with internal and external customers around providing
- Responding to pricing requests
Required Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an Electrical Design Engineering or Electrical Engineering role
- A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
- Experience in Electrical Panel Design
- Experience in completing Lighting Studies
- Experience in Estimation
- Experience in establishing and maintaining consistent performance standards with regards to operational procedures and support of safe, efficient and respectful work practices
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree level qualifications in Electrical Engineering
- Proven Electrical & Mechanical aptitude
- Thorough understanding of electrical componentry
