JOB DESCRIPTION
• Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements, appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
• Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
• Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses, answering questions and requests.
• Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs.
• Files for application of new products/ or updates on existing products with the insurance commission.
• Maintains existing insurance products so that it is always up to date with the industry standards
• Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; Also deals with the underwriting department to establish agreed pricing.
• Maintains product management staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
• Maintains product management staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 3-5 years in the insurance industry or related field
• Has good problem-solving abilities
• Can troubleshoot issues and determine the cause of a plan's success or failure
• Stays current with the current practices in the insurance industry
• Possesses strong marketing and analytical skills as well as detail-oriented.
• Has excellent leadership abilities
• Keeps up to date with changes in the market and technology that would affect new product development
• Can meet deadlines
• Can present the products to the client with the help of the business team.
